How to set up an Outlook rule for school emails

Outlook inbox rules can forward just the school emails to one address, so nothing important gets buried.

Create the rule (Outlook on the web or new Outlook)

  1. Open Settings (the gear icon), then Mail, then Rules.
  2. Click Add new rule and give it a name like School emails.
  3. Add a condition: From — enter the school's email addresses or domain.
  4. Add an action: Forward to — enter the address you want school emails sent to (for example, your Tangle Bell address).
  5. Save. New matching emails will forward automatically.

Tips

Some work or school Outlook accounts block automatic forwarding to outside addresses. If yours does, use a personal email account for school mail.

Rules apply to new messages; forward older ones by hand.

See it with a real school email

Watch how a messy school email turns into a to-do, a calendar date and a note under the right kid.
