How to auto-forward school emails in Gmail

Gmail can forward only the emails you choose — for example, everything from your school district's domain. It takes about five minutes on a computer.

Part 1: Add a forwarding address

  1. On a computer, open Gmail and click the gear icon, then See all settings.
  2. Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and click Add a forwarding address.
  3. Enter the address you want school emails sent to (for example, your Tangle Bell address) and confirm.
  4. Gmail sends a confirmation code or link to that address — open it to approve.

Part 2: Create a filter for school senders

  1. In the Gmail search bar, click the filter icon (show search options).
  2. In From, enter the school's email domain, such as @yourdistrict.org. Add teachers' or coaches' addresses separated by OR.
  3. Click Create filter.
  4. Tick Forward it to and choose the address you added.
  5. Click Create filter. New matching emails will now forward automatically.

Tips

Forwarding only applies to new emails. To send older ones, forward them by hand.

Keep Leave Gmail's copy in the Inbox on so you still have the original.
