1. What Tangle Bell collects

We collect only what we need to run the service for your family:

• Account information: your email address, password hash, and household name.
• Family roster: the names of your children, their schools, teachers, classes, and activities — all added by you.
• Forwarded school emails: the messages you choose to forward to your Tangle Bell address, including any attachments.
• Usage data: basic app errors and performance metrics so we can keep things working.

2. How we use your data

We use your data to:

• Sort forwarded emails by child, school, teacher, and class.
• Extract dates, deadlines, and action items for your dashboard and calendar.
• Send the digests and alerts you have asked for.
• Keep your account secure and fix bugs.

We do not use your data to train general AI models, build advertising profiles, or sell anything to third parties.

3. Who can see your data

Your household’s data is visible only to members of your household — the parents or caregivers you invite. Kid-safe views show only the information relevant to that child. Tangle Bell staff may access data only when needed to fix a problem or investigate abuse, and only under strict internal controls.

4. AI and forwarded emails

We use AI to read and classify the school emails you forward. The AI sees only the content of those emails and the roster information you have already entered. It does not browse the open web or pull in information from outside your account.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We may use privacy-focused analytics to understand how visitors use our marketing pages. We do not use tracking pixels for advertising.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your household data from our active systems. Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited time, but it is not used for any purpose.

7. Your choices

You can edit your roster, change digest settings, remove household members, or delete your account at any time from within the app. If you need help, email support@tanglebell.com.

8. Children’s privacy

Tangle Bell is intended for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up on their own, please contact us and we will remove the account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app.
